Don’t shy away from the bad, embrace it.

Our Festival is focused on creating an experience where people can really interact with each other. To achieve that we figure out ways to connect people, matchmaking and creating a program of interactive sessions that really bring people into a discussion of the themes, where everybody ends up with more value than when they walked in.

For UPRISE, bringing the Rule-breakers that are shaking industries is very important because our aim is to deliver true and practical value to our attendees.

Ordinary people shy away from negative situations and avoid trouble. What great people do is the opposite.

When you build a concept like this and go for the search of Speakers, Jon Woodroof is one of the first that come to mind.

Jon has a passion for bikes. Biking around also shapes his vision for business: improve, pay it forward, go ahead mentality! His work with sales and PR for startups has made of Twotone Amsterdam a benchmark and Jon into a representative of practical and useful advice and less pie in the sky!

His participation at UPRISE 5 has gained lots of praise, especially because of teachings as:

a) Seize The Offensive — Ordinary people shy away from negative situations and avoid trouble. What great people do is the opposite. They never waste an opportunity to flip a personal tragedy or crisis to their advantage.

b) Flip The Obstacle On Its Head — The events that we initially perceive as negative all contain a positive, exposed benefit that we can recognize and act on.

c) Focus On Something Bigger Than Yourself — Sometimes when we are personally stuck with some impossible problem, one of the best ways to create opportunities or new avenues for movement is to think: “If I can’t solve this for myself, how can I at least make this better for other people?”

Inspiring, right?
